Today we presented event project in the content rotation. There were 3 components to the project:
1. Live Tweets: We were to tweet seven times over the course of the event we attended. I found this aspect of the project to be very useful. This is a skill I could definitely see using later on at a job. It is also one that need practice! I learned how much focus on detail as well as overall understanding the event. It is was very difficult to ignore what we have learned as marketers and promoters in order to provide objective tweets from a journalistic perspective.
2. Photo Journalism: This was my favorite aspect! I love taking photos, and it was very interesting to see what a news paper is looking for in terms of photos. It is important to capture the over all feel and scope of the event, as well as important details that provide insight into the way the event was run or what happened at the event. I enjoyed looking at everyones photos and finding out what sort of angle the took to the events.
3. Last was to write the article. This was difficult to do in the time frame they provided. past articles I have written require weeks of preparation in order to interview the right people and get the necessary details to be prepared. I am interested to see how they grade the articles based in the short notice we were given (one weekend).
It was great to see everyone's work today. I think everyone did a fabulous job, and I am very excited to begin the marketing rotation!
