Today, our group has started working with the sales team. They have explained us what their job consists of via several power point presentations. We have had an interesting and lively discussion about demographics and lifestyles in San Diego, advertisements, ways to target certain groups of consumers, etc.
This week and the following, we will be doing ride alongs, "shadowing" true sales people and learning what they do on a daily basis. We will then have to answer some questions about the activity and give some feedback. This sounds very nice and entretaining. I really feel I can get a lot out of this. Going out to the "real world" is definitely something very different from what we have been doing. I also feel we won't have as much of a work load as we had when working in marketing. The drawback here is that the ride alongs take several hours. We have very busy weeks and this time is not easy to find. Nevertheless, I feel it will be worth it and I'm excited about the program!
