Week 6

For the next two weeks my group will be working in the content section of the UT. On Monday, we received a syllabus with an outline of what the editors hope we learn and accomplish while spending time with them. I really appreciated the structure the syllabus provided, and now I know exactly what is expected of me. On Monday we discussed the basic elements of journalism: what is journalism, what is news, what is reporting, and all of the different sources one must consider when writing a story. I think it is very important to learn the fundamentals of journalism before we are given our own writing assignment. Today we will be learning about the integration of social media into reporting and how to use tools like Twitter while covering an event. I'm really excited to use these new skills to write my own story and take pictures!!
