TJ's Marketing Week 1

Today we finally received the feedback from our Content rotation and project. It was good to hear that we all did fairly well, I think most of us earned an A or high B. As far as the marketing rotation goes, our project is going to consist of a presentation regarding one of UT's products. This presentation is basically put in place to improve on the existing products UT already owns, operates, and distributes.
I'm excited that I was assigned the Union Tribune's iPad app since I'm interested in technology/social media. Our first assignment was to research our products and find room for improvement. There's a lot to be said about the iPad app, especially considering it only received 2/5 stars on the Apple App ratings.

Pros: The weather and surf reports are customizable and quite useful, you can interact with other readers through comments, there is a lot of content UT has access to, the "todays photos" section looks awesome on the iPads HD screen.
Cons: Bad layout, different layout and content from the website (users want to see some continuity), not very user friendly.

I plan on using a SWOT analysis to present my findings to the managers, more updates to come!
