ride along 2

Today I have had my second ride along with a sales person called Kevin. I have been reading Micheal's description and we did pretty much the same thing, except that in my case we didn't go for lunch and we didn't get to go to vistit any client. He actually had no appointments with any of his clients so it made little sense to go around the city without a goal. Instead, we went upstairs to the UT's cafeteria and we talked about sales and recruitment.

As Michael explained, he also gave me the "Sales 101" lesson which was very useful. It was funny because he asked me to tell him how I would sell a pen to someone and then after that, taught me how it should really be done. He said things that make a lot of sense but sometimes you don't think of. Asking good questions is definitely key if you want to be in the sales business. After knowing about the customer and its needs, you can start providing a (customized) solution that the customer will be happy to acquire.

After that, he also gave me tips about recruitment processes. He told me that it is crucial to have confidence in yourself whenever you are in an interview. He said that we are usually very worried because we don't have much work experience and that we shouldn't be too worried about that since we are students and that is normal. Instead, we should try to focus on the accomplishments we have made in life and sound interested and motivated. Also, we should prepare well the reasons why the interviewer should hire us. Asking good questions is, again, something that can make a difference.

Although at first I was a little disappointed about not being able to do a real ride along, I think it has been a very interesting experience and I have learned a lot out of it.

I hope your weeks are fun too!
